Abby Saunders visits Transfixed Hello Manchester Concord Fans, I arrived in Manchester from Houston, Texas on Tuesday 27th October and following a rather hectic day attending to business matters managed to clear the way to make Wednesday afternoon somewhat free so I could visit the Rembrandt that evening. My long time good friend Mary (legs) was aware of my visit and arranged a visit to TRANSFIXED in the late afternoon so I could experience the makeover services. Now, first of all I should explain to those that do not know where the Transfixed Salon is that it is located in a red brick warehouse building in Jersey Street, off Ancoats Street. Mary had previously been to this establishment and as I had not she kindly picked me up at my Hotel and we drove there together. I met the two owners, Lisa and Zara, two delightfully friendly ladies who are not only proficient in the art of makeup and makeovers, but (hooray) use an airbrush spray technique to excellent affect. As a professional actress I am well used to being made up with such a system and I must say that air brushes far outstrip the usual application by wedges of liquid foundations and finishing coats. The application is seamless, it “fills” in the skin pores and leaves a lovely smooth and even affect to your face and neck. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to be “transitioned” with a state of the art system professionally used by these two ladies. Upon entering the salon, Mary and I were invited to take a fresh cup of tea sitting in very comfortable chairs, during which we were given a tour of the salon and explanation of the services they provide. We were also invited to make suggestions and requests on how I thought I wanted to look. The salon has a very clean, modern and fresh atmosphere comprising of a main Reception Room with a display of available products and other items, although at no time did the staff engage in “pressure” to purchase these. Incidentally, they have a very unusual “door bell” which I think you will appreciate! Off this main room are two rooms where makeover and other services are performed. As well as makeovers, hairdressing, wig services and styling are a specialty of Zara and Lisa, indeed they also teach these skills to classes outside of their Jersey Street salon premises. The makeover took some 48 minutes, the result was very “day to day” as I requested, the sort of “look” that you could go shopping in without causing any difficulties. Best of all, the cost was very affordable and much less that I have experienced at home in the USA. I would enthusiastically suggest that you try this salon, albeit for a special occasion or perhaps a day out with a girlfriend. We all need to be spoiled a little some days and I cannot think of a better place to start than Transfixed. I know that you will find these two ladies a delight to be with, they are friendly, discreet, considerate, helpful and obviously well trained and capable of turning you out looking your absolute best. In my case with or without glasses! I will definitely use their services the next time I visit Manchester. Take care, Abby Abby Saunders is a professional screen, television and theatre actress,
